The scope of family medicine encompasses all ages, all genders, each organ system and every disease entity.

Ultasounds, X-Rays, EKGs

Ultrasound scans, or sonography, are safe because they use sound waves or echoes to make an image, instead of radiation.Ultrasound scans are used to evaluate fetal development, and they can detect problems in the liver, heart, kidney, or abdomen. They may also assist in performing certain types of biopsy. The image produced is called a sonogram.

Xrays are a type of radiation called electromagnetic waves. Xray imaging creates pictures of the inside of your body. The images show the parts of your body in different shades of black and white. This is because different tissues absorb different amounts of radiation.

An EKG is a paper or digital recording of the electrical signals in the heart. It is also called an electrocardiogram or an ECG. The EKG is used to determine heart rate, heart rhythm and other information regarding the heart’s condition.

Women's Health Screening

Recommended starting ages for cholesterol screening are between 20 to 45 for women.
Beginning at age 21, women should have a pelvic exam and Pap smear every 3 years to check for cervical cancer.
If you are over age 30 and your Pap smear and HPV test are normal, you only need a Pap smear every 5 years.

Holter Monitor

A Holter monitor is a battery-operated portable device that measures and records your heart’s activity (ECG) continuously for 24 to 48 hours or longer depending on the type of monitoring used. The device is the size of a small camera. It has wires with silver dollar-sized electrodes that attach to your skin.

Onsite Labs

With fast results and a wide range of convenient services, Patel Family Medical Center’s on-site labs also reduce the cost of having to visit another location for lab work.

Laboratory testing and screening services use medical devices, designed for analyzing samples of blood, urine, different tissues, or materials drawn from the body. Laboratory services at Walk-In Clinics, offer an array of routine and specialized onsite testing and screening services along with clinical consultation.

Administrative IV's

Patients are prescribed an IV solution (fluids) based on their electrolyte and fluid volume status. IV fluids are commonly categorized as colloids and crystalloids. Colloid solutions contain large molecules that cannot pass through semi-permeable membranes and are used to expand intravascular volume by drawing fluid from extravascular space via high osmotic pressure. Examples of colloid solutions are albumin, dextrans, and hydroxyethyl starches

School Physicals/Sports physicals

Also called pre-participation physicals, sport physicals are a great way to make sure an athlete can safely play. Even if your state or school doesn’t require it, sports physicals also help to keep immunizations up to date and provide an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have.
